Help Advice for My Step1 Study Plan

Hello.. I am an IMG preparing for Step 1..

I am done with Kaplan 2 reads but I realized I keep forgetting stuff quickly so did not start any QBank.. I want some advice regarding my new prep strategy:

I have felt that giving more reads to Kaplan is useless for me now because I have probably extracted in my mind all that I could and reading more of it would be useless.. I am sort well aware of the basics now.. So I am planning to do DIT 2012 (with FA of course) and then do the QBanks.. FA has everything in one place so I can revise more and retain more instead of Kaplan.

So is it a good idea to rely ONLY on:

First Aid + QBanks(including UWorld) + Pathoma

Can I get a decent/high score on Step 1 with this combination?

My problem is I dont think I will go well on NBME bcoz I keep forgetting the small details .. And I dont want to base my prep on just one test.. I wanna retain stuff first from FA so that when i do an NBME I am confident that yes i can score something..

thanx for the reply though..

Default I have the same problem

Leishmania, I have the same problem. I keep forget what I read especially Pharma and Micro. However, nothing can beat your own notes. Although, It will take a lot of time to do so but it takes less efforts to review them and it is much faster. I have difficulty to read first aid. It is seems like we have to know it by heart word by word. I am not sure if this is it... FA and UW are the key to pass the exam. It is such wonderful if we have what we need in one book. I am willing to read it and understand it many times. Where is the magic book? Is it First Aid or Kaplan Med essential?

I just took step 1 a week ago and my best advice is to use USMLERX Qmax, you are asking for something to helps you remember details from FA.

USMLERX Qmax is a good qbank if you want to spend some time reviewing FA.

I also did Uworld which is very good qbank, but if you want to work on memorizing FA and practice questions USMLERX is a good option.

I am also having the same prob... having difficulty retaining things.. I have done the kaplan videos once..and planning to go over FA once before doing the DIT... probably thru my first read of FA planning to do USMLE Rx qbank side by side...

like mentioned above..I have been also hearing that USMLE RX helps to retain the material better... I guess if u have time u shud inculde USMLE RX..
