Question Importance of Step 1

I am a US citizen-IMG in year 3 Australia who just sat Step 1 and scored 247. I plan to do 2 rotations in the US during 4th year, and perhaps an elective rotation in Dec (end of year break for Oz).

As an IMG how competitive does this score really make me? I've heard that as an IMG my score needs to be about 10pts. higher than anyone else applying for the same program.

Hello u are very competitive. Most programmes I checked said the average if their applicants is 220.

Simple answer - a 247 is really competitive, regardless of where you come from. Congrats on the result.

For perspective, the national average last year was 227, if memory serves.
