Question Pathophysiology of petechiae in fat embolism

Guys I want clarification on this, someone posted on this forum that petechiae in fat embolism were due to "hemorrhagic thromboembolism secondary to cholesterol crystal-induced infarction", I was of the opinion that it resulted from platelet consumption following formation of platelet aggregates on circulating fat globules.
Please clarify.

The reason for formation of petechiae is thrombocytopenia... again thrombocytopenia develops due to,

1. Fatty acids derived from breakdown of microglobules damage vessel endothelium and platelet thrombi develop in areas of endothelial injury.

2. Adhesion of platelets to microglobules of fat.
