Question USMLERx Simulation Exam

How does Usmle RX simulation and predicted usmle score relate to the real exam ? I feel that most of their questions are direct. I have been doing Rx and my average is about 60 % and I took a 4 block simulation and my predicted score was 219, with the average 65 % Should I rely on this information to know where I stand. I still have to do uworld.
Any input is appreciated.

I did usmlerx as a part of my last month of preparation and ended up doing it with 74% cumulative with a USMLE step 1 with a predicted performance of 240.
I did 3 mock tests and my results were: 237 (4 blocks), 237 (4 blocks) and 253 (7 blocks) the last one was 2 days before my exam.

As a predictor I don't think is reliable I think it is a very good learning tool, it is very good to memorize FA, but for sure is not a good predictor, I did a lot of research about the predictive capability of these qbank and I found that is -15-25 of the predictive score.

I still think NBME is the best predictor according to a lot of Step 1 takers, and UWSA is the second best.

But I also think you are in the path of getting a good score, after doing uworld you are going to be in a good shape to get a high score.

I will let you know how predictive is usmlerx qmax whenever I get my results (apparently this wednesday).

I didn't used Kaplan Qbank so I can't tell you for sure what to do, but I was almost like you 6 weeks away my exam I had NBME 12 with 207 and didn't know what to do to improve my score, so my friends recommended me to do another Qbank (because I was done with uworld), someone told me that Kaplan Qbank for my last 5-6 weeks it was going to be "too confusing" so at the end I decidided to go for usmlerx.

I found that usmlerx is a very good Qbank, and it was very helpful for my exam there was some questions like the real exam, it is going to help you to go through your FA again and focus in your weakest areas.

My recommendation is to go for usmlerx for a month, 3,200 questions, then maybe an NBME like 15 days before your exam to make sure everything is working fine, you are getting closer to your goal and have some time just in case you want to re-schedule your exam.

*I didn't do another NBME before my test, maybe that wasn't smart that is why I am telling you to do one before your test. I am expecting my results and I don't know if I am going to do well or what because I didn't take any SA or NBME close to my exam day.

Hello medpack87 I think I was in the same situation as you are right know, wondering if usmlerx is a good predictor or what? it is really annoying.

I have a question, have you ever taken a NBME or SA online?

What is your cumulative % in usmlerx?

What are your usmlerx mock tests results?

I have taken 2 NBME's. 13 and 11, with a 2 week separation (did one of the Qmax 8-hour sims in between), and got 228 predicted on both! Online and on extended format. The overall % of correct answers is around 80-85% (that is a lot I think, but it gives me a low predicted in my opinion).

I dont remember my UWorld SA1 and SA2 scores right now, but they were like 240 and 230, but I think that predicted was an overestimation, I wasn't as ready as I feel now, I took them a month ago already, I also recall I didnt take them in the best of situations (i didnt have a good night sleep or issues like that).

On the other hand, these are my Qmax results until now:
Overall performance 71%
Sim 1 68% 227 predicted
Sim 2 73% 240 predicted (I wish! :sorry: )
Sim 3 71% 234 predicted

My results are going to be out on wednesday so I will let you know guys how predictive was usmlerx.

I wish you guys the best in your preparation. Anything else that I can help let me know.

Medpack I think you are in the path of getting a very good score, with those NBME results I am sure you are going to do a very good job in your exam. I recommend you to check webpath 2 weeks before my exam, there are some images to practice for the exam, and if you haven't read 100 medical cases ethics by Conrad Fischer read it a couple of days before your exam that is going to help you improve your score if you are having some problem with ethics questions.

Thanks man, I will follow your advice! Let us know how you did in your STEP1, and get ready to celebrate!

I hope my NBME's are underestimating me, I really wish more than 230. :sorry:

Hello my friends as a I promised, I got my score today and got 226.

I think usmlerx cummulative performance -15-20 is the score you are going to get on the real exam.

In my experience NBME maybe didn't predicted my score:

UWSA 1 :211 (3 months before exam)
UWSA 2 :224 (2 months 1 week before exam)

NBME 12: 207 (7 weeks before exam)
NBME 7: 203 (5 weeks before exam)

After NBME 7 I didn't do any NBME, I was worried so I studied harder.

I did 3 usmlerx mock exams:

usmlerx: 237 (2 weeks before exam)
usmlerx: 237 (1 week before exam)
usmlerx: 253 (2 days before exam)

I think with usmlerx mock exams is -15-25 predicted score.

But I found something interesting:

(211 (uwsa1)+224(uwsa2)+207(NBME 12)+203(NBME 7)+237(usmlerxsa)+237(usmlerxsa)+253(usmlerxsa)+24 0(usmlerxcorrelationscore))/8 = 226.5

At the end based on my experience I think whenever you have a lower than expected NBME you can say for sure you are not under the NBME predicted score but it is really hard to say how much higher you are from that predicted score. Maybe the average is a good way of saying where are you standing.

Yes Mysha, as I said before in some of the posts, usmlerx is a great learning tool if you are with uworld and need something else to pump it up your score.

Great to reinforce FA.
