Please help me out for this friends.i completed
Almost all Kaplan ,reading FA n in between
Goljian wid UW.it seems good for me.but I am
Bothered abt not using Kaplan videos,is it ok or
Am I doing a mistake? Please help me.
I don't feel that Kaplan videos are necessary for the Step 1. If you are comfortable with your preparation with the materials you are using, then I would suggest that you do not waste your time on what will be repetition anyway.
The videos are compliment to the notes only when u don't undertand the notes. Remember that even some of the notes have more than what the vedio has. So up to u to decide.
I guess it is entirely up to you. In my case, I just cannot sit down and read a basic sciences book without losing my concentration 30 minutes in. So Kaplan videos helped me a lot understanding the concepts while reading through all of the kaplan lecture notes, and as an excellent guide/schedule.
If you are comfortable studying the way you did, then you dont need the kaplan videos. And if you already went through those books and feel you have a good grip on the concepts and high yield stuff, then doing the Kaplan videos would be a waste of time.
I was going to start a thread on the same topic, but the OP recently started it for me. However I wanted to know which videos are best?
I am trying to complete my first read within the next 8-10 weeks, and I am willing to skip certain videos if it is not useful and are simply reading from the book. I have gone through Physio, Path (Pathoma), and Pharm. I found those to be pretty useful as they make important connections and integrations from other subjects not mentioned in the book. However moving foward as I try to complete my first read, which of the rest of videos are recommended and which ones to skip (Anatomy, Histo, Embryo, Neuro, Biochem, Behav, Micro, Immuno)?

I skipped inmuno because I thought that with micro it would be enough. Guess what, bad idea. Now im paying for my mistake, I suffer a lot during inmuno questions and I feel that USMLE asks a lot of tricky questions in this category, not sure if its because I skipped it, or because its really like that, I think its the first. My recomendation, DONT skip any video, you will get a lot from it, even if you think you are good at that subject, even if you have a biology degree, dont skip inmuno or micro. Now, as I said before, its really up to you, and Im very lousy at reading from kaplan lecture notes alone, therefore I am heavily dependent of someone on the screen to talk and explain me through the subject, even if most of it is just reading from the book.
Im trying to make up by doing inmuno based questions and learning from the answer choices, I have come to a decent level after much effort, but it would have been better if I didnt skip it.
kaplan videos are a life saver for me! especially since i feel it's been some time since i graduated. the notes are good for a quick read, but the videos highlight the important points. also, some of the lectuerers really focus in on high yield stuff, and the notes are more general in nature, sometimes covering extra detail just for the sake of being complete (as a stand alone text for review i presume).
Couldnt have said it better. As a matter of fact, I didnt! hahaha
