Anatomy Stab wound to 2nd intercostal space

Hi guys,

I was wondering what structure/space would be affected, if a person were stabbed in the 2nd right intercostal space. Is it the pericardial cavity?

Is there a good page or chart for these stab-wound questions?

Thank you!

You didnt specified if the stab wound was close to the sternal border or in the mid clavicular .....
i am assuming you are asking about the sternal border side .... so i dont think it would pierce the pericardial cavity as it ends just underneath the sternum and it would take the stab wound to be as close as possible to the sternum border to pierce it which is very unlikely ....so i would go for the pleural cavity most likely injuring the right upper lobe ,initially causing pneumothorax and then hemothorax if the blood accumlates after it due to injury of the lungs
