Default My experience on step1

Hi, I took exam on April 26, got report yesterday, 246~
I am a little disappointed about it, since I aimed 250+, and I am an IMG...

Here is my experience.
I am a 5th grade medical student, so may have more time to prepare step1.

1st: I read Kaplan books
exceptions: physiology, which I use BRS
anatomy&neuroanatomy&histology,which I use HY
2nd: Kaplan Qbank, timed & mixed, overall 67%
I started reading FA meanwhile
3rd: UW, timed & mixed, overall 74%
read FA, and wrote notes on it
4th: I did ALL NBMEs and find explanations on this forum! Thank you all!
5th: I was tested a lot on neuroanatomy and biochemistry. Many long questions and charts. And I think my exam was harder than UW and NBME.

Wish you all good luck!

Here are those simulated tests scores
2013.1.1:UWSA1-630
2013.1.7:NBME7-560
2013.2.21:UWSA2-740
2013.2.25:NBME12-560
2013.3.18:NBME11-610
2013.4.8:NBME15-610
2013.4.17:Kaplan simulated2-78%
2013.4.22:official 150 - 92%

No change in nbme score for about 1.5 months ( nbme7 and 12)
What did u do to improve in the nbme 11 and 15.
How does 560 , 610 correlate with three digit score pls?
How long did u prepare?

good questions

1. in fact, I do think I improve a lot during that 1.5 months.
actually I felt good after nbme12...
the reason same score on NBME7 and 12 was that I made soooooooo many silly mistakes in nbme12...
2. I listen to Goljan, sorry for miss it in my experience ...
HIGHLY recommend Goljan!
and I found my weak points and read books about them during that time
3. 560--235, 610--247 (more or less the same score in real exam)
so recommend do at least 1 NBME to predict scores
4. nearly 1 year

the reason I spent a long time was that I did not feel urgent at first, 2~3 hrs/day maybe...
I did uwsa in January, and apply for the exam, then I felt urgent and prepare seriouly...
