Listening What do you think of my studying material ?

Hey
I had some issues that forced me to postpone studying USMLE
after reading about some experiences I came up with this plan , and I started with it seriously, what do you think ??

Patho >> pathoma + FA
Anatomy >> Kaplan + FA
Neuro >> HI yeild + FA
Physio >>BRS + FA
Micro + pharma + biochem+ biostat >> kaplan + FA
Behavioural + Psychatry >> FA
Q banks >> Kaplan + Usmleworld

What do you think ? is it enough to get 240 + ?? and do I have to do Kaplan Videos or doing the notes is enough?

thanks alot
really need help

In my own opinion, having too many study materials is detrimental. You end up spending more time to prepare for the exam, and there's is really no correlation with your final scores. People have aced step 1 with just first aid, pathoma and uworld. if you go through this forum, NBMEs and UWORLD sufficed as qbanks for many. In the end, it all depends on you. Your goals, stamina, and how much time you have.

well my studying material as I posted does not depend on too many sources , and all the other sources I will just give one read , take out important points, then I will concentrate on FA , i will memorize and understand it by heart thats my plan
my goal is 240+ I really want it so my stamina will be high, I have 6 months but only 3 months from the 6 months will be vacation

So you say that 2 Qbanks is more than enough ?

From my own experience as per qbanks, uworld was enough. Nbme will help you know your weak areas. Kaplan was better off in molecular/cell biology. Here's an idea, why don't you finish uworld and assess yourself with an nbme?

i agree' with you. but it depends on person to person
some peopletwo qbanks in 4 months while some did 3 in three months' so yeah best would be taking Nbme after UW as you mentioned'
if less then <225 .i am IMG so i wudnot take test n do more Qbanks

mmm I am afraid that I would waste my time ! I dont want to solve uworld without studying and turn it like a guessing game !

can I tell me from you experience in the exam what material was sufficient for exam ??

It really depends on timeline, it looks fine to me.

But if you're looking to add something, add interactive learning.

Just ONE of these:
-Another Q-Bank (USMLE Rx is very underrated in my opinion)
-Gunner Training (just do the questions) forget about the flashcards
-Do some NBMEs offline as you can and write up your own explanations
-Question heavy review books like BRS

You misunderstand me. I'm not expecting you to solve uworld without studying. Uworld is just an adjunct in your preparation. During my preparation, I read a chapter in uworld, e.g cardiology, and then I solved a couple of questions in timed mode under cardiology in uworld. I did the same for the other subjects, taking notes and reading every explanation. In my exam, I didn't see any questions that were verbatim from uworld. The questions were a mixture of crazy and cool. (However i heard new questions were being tested during my exam period). Was uworld sufficient? Yes, it was helpful as a qbank and it helped retain things I read in first aid. I didn't do many nbmes because I had seen so many questions posted online and I wasn't getting a true assessment when I solved them.
If I was to do anything differently in my preparations, I would avoid forums that post nbmes, and solve EVERY nbme. I would also pay more attention to molecular/cell biology. Kaplan, first aid and uworld wasn't enough to handle the questions I saw. You need to understand the basics of cell biology. (Note however that this is just a minute fraction of the exam). I had no problem with the remaining sections(I'm not saying I got everything right though).
I hope my extensive post was a bit helpful. At the end of the day, the decision lies with you. You need to adapt during your study and find out what works for you.

So you studied kaplan , FA, Uworld for all subjects and found no problem except in molecular biology ?
Btw is the molecular biology section of kaplan in Biochemestry book or does it have a separate book because I couldnt find it :S
Thanks alot for your post, really appreciate

I have seen a lot of experiences. So mostly, ppl do 2 Qbanks and even 1 Qbank and ended up with >240.
I think you 'll be in good shape ,, keep it up and u 'll rock the step .
good luck

Thanks alot all I am gonna use 2 Qbanks and the sources I listed
I am pretty confident that I am goona do well , maybe a little bit pessimistic about Behavioral and psychiatry because I am gonna depend on FA and Qbanks only for these 2 topics becuase I dont think that I have time to read whole kaplan or BRS , they are big and I never took these subjects at school unlike others which I covered strongly during medical school.... the rest of subjects , I feel positive dunno y
Pray for me
