Help Exam in 2 weeks, I need motivation.

Hey guys, actually my exam is in about 11 days and this morning I woke up feeling really down. A little background; I have been studying for the exam for about 6 months now but I only knew I would be able to take it 3 weeks ago. The ECFMG rejected 3 times and it didn't look like it would happen but I thank God they changed their minds. My last nbme, 12, , 2 weeks ago was 220 since then I have been reading FA again and I realized there is so much I didn't have memorized before probably because I wasn't sure about the exam. I hope to take the next one this weekend and UWSA on the same day. I have been getting 90s regularly on UW but it's probably because this is my second time on mixed timed mode and before now I did all my wrong ones. But at the start my percentage was 61. I started when I started studying so I learnt a lot from it. So that's where I am now, at the start I wanted to get above a 250 and I know anything is possible but right now I will be ok with a 240. I have my Uworld notes and notes for FA set aside for the last week. I need to pick myself up, I know I can do this. Hopefully, by starting this thread I will be able to. Pray for me.

Thats a good plan. Just stay confident and try to read as much you can from fa, write down stuff you feel you didnt learn first time around. after a good fa review, you can take nbme and hopefully see improvement. good luck!

Thank you, I'm actually doing well today. We'll see if I can do my 50 pages. I'm currently at 24 with 1 Uworld block done. But now I just read what I missed so its easier.

Default You can do it!

Hey Alex, I've already taken Step 1, so I know exactly the emotions you're feeling right now. It can seem like no matter how many times you flip through FA or go through your Qbank, your confidence just doesn't improve. Make sure you're staying healthy, drinking a lot of water and taking walks. You probably know way more than you're giving yourself credit for, it just seems overwhelming when all of the information is spread out in front of you.

I just posted a blog today (ironically) about how to maximize your last 10 days if you're studying with Picmonic (which I know you didn't mention, but you may have been introduced to it already). You can check it out and maybe it'll give you an extra dose of confidence, or an idea for how you can maximize these last few days: http://picmonic.com/2013/06/highest-...tudy-schedule/

Let us know how it goes, but I have a feeling you're going to be really prepared!

I'm able to do 50 a day but I have to really push my self and wake up really early, around 6. I start Uworld at 7 and by 9 I'm done with 2 blocks and have gone through my wrong ones then I start reading. My exam is on the 17 path, good luck to you too!

Thanks a lot man, I'll take your advice and do nbme 15 instead of 13 like I planned this weekend....or maybe I should 15 and 13 on the same day? Instead of 1 nbme and one UWSA?

Nbme 15 with one week left, 228. I still think a 240+ is possible and Im working towards it. Also I'm about to take a uwsa so I'll have new questions to go through.this last week is going to be about a lot of question reviews. Please post your progression so we can encourage ourselves. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

UWSA predicted a 244. Take 15 points away from that and I gues nbme is about right...still one week left so we'll see how this goes.

I did't take NBME at all. I'm not gonna do this.
I finished my USMLEworld (2 months) and the last week I will work on my mistakes in this USMLE. Also I've done USMLERx for 2 months.
I am planning to work om my weak sides the last week and get some rest during the last 2 days before exam.
I live in Cleveland, OH, and my prometric center around half hour from me. I feel a little bit nervous but very happy that it's just last week.

When I feel down I try to remember: "Pain is temporary, it may last for a minute for a hour or even a year, but eventually it will subside. If I quit however - it will last forever".

Seems like you've done enough with those stats, you should be good. Just go over your notes...atleast that's what I'm doing now. But the way I did the free 150 but I did each block individually and then at the end I realized I could have done everything together and my score would be given to me at the end. I dnt have time to redo the whole thing so I calculated it my self...1st block was 91, 2nd 89 and 3rd block was 80%. The multi media block with 5 questions was a 100%. So I just added all 4 blocks and divided by 4...that's how it's calculated right?

You know - I think that for me is the most important thing is to be sure that I have done everything that I could to make all my best. I don't see any other options - I did USMLEworld I did Kaplan Qbank I did Usmle Rx... I think I took all chances.
I think nobody knows FA for 100% because it's just really a lot of information just to remember and keep in mind. I am sure that no matter how much do you know - more important how you can use your knowledge.

Very optimistic!!!
But I have my USMLERX and USMLEworld results - so I am really confident. I did everything. I rescheduled my exam once - it's enough. I wanna get rid of this. If I am not ready accordingly NBME - really have no idea what else can I do.

I wish you all the best and be a little bit more optimistic!

Yo if you feel you're ready, go take it. If you think your stats are good enough then be confident. Passing the nbme is not a guarantee that you will pass. It's all in your head...be confident. It's not a do or die affair, just another exam. Study as hard as you can and DO YOUR BEST. Leave the rest to God...there's nothing you can do but your best. Simple.

Yes - absolutely agree.
NBME is a good assessment but it is a not guaranteed passed exam. I know many people who got good results on NBME and not such a great results on USMLE. It depends on so many factors.
I studied so long because I could't get my permit from ECFMG so I think I will go crazy if I will study longer... Really... I just can't do this anymore. And I did everything what I could do. And I will try to do my best on exam. Wish the same to you!

G-D has nothing to do with passing the exams.

NBME is created to assess your readiness for the exam.

NBME 13/15 are now just like the real exam.

according to the forum members , there real mark was 5+/- some 2+/- from their NBME marks.

I still suggest to do NBME and defer your exam if your mark is not more than 220
