Help Nbme 12 470/214

I scored a 203 on my nbme 11 a month ago and now I'm scoring a 214 on nbme 12 this month. I just reread first aid twice. I would like to still improve my score. How should I go about continuing to study? Keep rereading first aid or just focus on my weakest subjects? My weakest subjects were GI and Musculoskeletal.

Rereading FA is a WASTE OF TIME!

What you should do is recognize your week areas (the one that the NBME mentioned: its quite accurate!), read the FA part FOR that area. and then do QUESTIONS. QUESTIONS QUESTIONS QUESTIONS, is the key to improve. Re-reading wont help you in nailing the concept.

The thing about re-reading is that you will understand the concept IN THE SAME WAY you already know it, without realizing what your mistake is!

Also, by questions I mean you should do UW, past NBME's, and also if you get time to do a few KQB/USMLErx, although I didnt try any other QB and frankly I think they are low yielf. UW is the key in improving.

Give 6 days each to GI and Muscoloskeletal, start with kaplan books,

a) read all kaplan chapters on GI and Musculoskeletal (anatomy, physiology, pathology),
b) After doing single section, do the UWorld questions i.e when u finish GI Physio, start with UWorld GI physio questions and annotate them all in ur kaplan book, review concepts which u got wrong,
Do this with all chapters.

I am sure you will get 10-15 points improvement on ur score, becoz GI and musculoskeletal/connective tissue have lot of questions in exam.

I would also recommend doing all NBME's before ur exam, reading FA again and again is of no use, Do DIT online course toward the end, You will memorize more.

Hope it helps ...
