Wink mental retardation : most common inherited cause vs most common genetic cause ?

what is the most common inherited cause ? and genetic cause of mental retardation, to my surprise ans to both of htem diff as per book i referred to.
  • so what you think is the ans.
  • what is the diff in above 2 questions ?

#1 Genetic cause of MR -> DOWN
#2 Genetic cause of MR -> Fragile X

#1 Non-genetic cause of MR -> FAS (fetal Alcohol syndrome)

This is what I recall. Correct me if I am wrong.

inherited = amino acid sequence messed up
genetic = chromosome sequence messed up
