Help USMLE; To do or not do!

Hey all,

I know myself I am a very average student, I need time to study things and the most depressing thing is I nearly forget everything unless I revise it one week prior to exam or revise it 4 times ! so I know that my brain is not that brilliant
so I wanted to know if you advise me to take the risk and do USMLE or it will just be a waste of time for an average student
like for example if I get between 220-230 in step 1 and 220-230 in step , would these scores be good enough for an IMG to get internal residency,
and If I fail, does that mean the end of my medical career , is there any other place other than USA that I can make residency ? I heard Australia is good but I dont really know , what do you think ??

please guys I am really depressed , dont know what to do I feel like entering medical school with all these geniuses around was the biggest mistake in my life ( ?

so please answer all my questions I will be very thankful

no reason for depression. kaplan series is quite different from the usual medical stuff. it helps u make a great concept so u dont forget things so easily. just take ur start (kaplan+pathoma). watch the videos and read the book. do it a few times and once u think u r having a good concept start first aid. read that book 3,4 or even 5 times to ensure u remember each and every point in this book. once u do that start doing uworld online for 3 months or so. after that have a very quick revision of the course and give ur test. u got 250+ with that average brain which is more than safe (235 is also safe). DO NOT take step 1 unless u r very well prepared.

step 2 would then take 3,4 months' step 2 cs about 1 month.

if u cant, u can very well give plab and do ur residency easily in UK and in europe as well. european countires need u to learn thier language. thats a barrier but once u have overcome that barrier its easy to get training especially in finland and germany.

AND BIG BIG thanks for replying , I really appreciate your help

well getting 250 + is impossible for me , even If I had an open book exam !
what about 230 in both steps? is it enough for Internal Residency or will be it a waste of time and money to apply for Internal residency with that score, I mean what is the % of getting accepted for IM with that scores ?

yeah I know thats the problem the language ! what do you think about Australia since it is in english ? shall I consider it as an option or not ?

dont even think of australia. its supersaturated now a days. even australian citizens who have done thier md/mbbs outside of the country nowadays cant get a house job which makes them taxi drivers.

how are you so sure u cant get 250+? u never know man. just start ur study do alot of it, test ur self with NBME and if u really cant get to that place, then 230 is also good but then u must do Externship in US to supplement ur CV. also u amy need step 3 to improve ur cv and may research and other things. u can still get it very confidently with all those things.

Nothing is impossible in the mle.... Even avg brains have ended up with 250+ and some brilliant students have ended up with 220s ... It all depends on how u prep.... And how motivated u are

ohch ! so australia option is cancelled, looks that there is no other place unless I learn a new language !!

well I might be sure in this because in collegue I did my best always studying but in exam I always get below average mark and whenever I study sth and I need to recall an info I studied previously , I cant , I just cant find it in my brain so I guess I am not good enough to get 250 +

thanks again Dr
