Anatomy Venous Drainage of the Breast

Hi guys,
I had a question like "there's a mass in a patient's right breast. Cells travel through posterior intercostal veins directly to ______________ to reach the vertebral column of the patient."
A) azygos vein
B) Inferior vena cava
C) internal thoracic
D) subcostal

Thanks!!

Yup Azygos is right but be careful, if it was LEFT breast then it would be HEMIazygos

Goljan refers to something called the Batson paravertebral venous plexus, which has connection with vena cava and paravertebral bodies so that's how most of Breast CA spreads eventually from azygos or hemiazygos.
