I always thought doing question as much as possible than cramping books is the major deal ... but i am now relieved to be backed by a solid research

Thanx for sharing

I wonder if a similar study could be performed on IMGs in international medical schools. My gut feeling is there would be a difference in the study results! US medical school education is more or less trained towards the USMLE exams i'm told. International medical schools not so much, hence they might require more time spent with the "non question resources". But question resources would be equally if not more important definitely, irrespective of where you're from.

I tend to disagree with the correlation they have between medical school performance and step 1 performance though, that would not happen necessarily with IMGs i feel. Not to mention the US medical schools involved in this study are top tier medical institutions in the country, so its possible that that fact skewed this aspect of the study.

But great study!

Well, this is interesting to read, but I would not call this solid research because of the very small sample size (n=96). Plus, they only looked at students from ONE medical school, which is not a very represantative sample. It would be interesting to see this for different medical schools, I would like to see the more competitive schools in a study like this.
But overall, it is nice to see that doing questions helps!

I don't know where you got that the top medical institutions are involved in this study... I honestly don't think Albert Einstein Medical College is one of the top schools, plus it is the only one in the study!

Isn't it? I was under the impression that it was one of the top 10 in the country (Informed by friends of mine, not from the internet though)

Then, my bad!

I dont think though, although I am not sure about stuff like that, it just sounded like you thought there were multiple med schools involved in the study... :/
they should do something like this on a bigger scale.
I guess it would be too expensive with all those 5$ gift cards, lol.

Yeah i understand why you thought that, i wasn't particularly clear there.

You're right. If this could be expanded to more medical schools in the US it would be fantastic. And at a later stage, a comparison with International medical schools.
