Hey guys hope you are doing well..
I need your advice..
about me: IMG graduated in 2012- applying for match 2016.
By the end of June I will be done with Step 1 exam.

I have to take step 2 CS and step 2 CK during the period (July 2014 to July 2015),
during this period I will stay in my home country and I have 2 choices to work there:

First choice: large hospital where I can have excellent internal medicine training and good company (majority of residents are match 2015 applicants and USMLE oriented, they took the chance to apply for USMLE exams before working there, almost all work there for one or two years till they match)..
experience is excellent but working hours are long (study time: no more than 20 hours/week).

Second choice: Primary care (most probably governmental health clinic, rare chance to get ER GP position in a hospital)
work hours: if clinic: 4 or 5 hours daily 6 days/week. If hospital: ( 2 on-calls /week. 24 hours each call) and the rest of the week ff.
so apparently, more time to study for USMLE.

[In both choices I can get 2 weeks off to travel for CS and 2 weeks off before the day of step 2 CK exam].

Please tell me what do you think is better choice for completing the journey to the match? based on better CV and ability to study CS+CK. Thanks alot.

Everybody is different but I think the general priority is to choose the one that is less stressful so u could get more time to study which is ur ultimate goal.
Aside that consider the money too if finance is a problem for u. But for me time is key then the money!

Well, Joswe, for me, time is priority also especially since I'm taking step 1 in sept and have done jst 2 months of active study with so many more things to learn and aiming for a 260. I just recently opted out of work to focus squarely on study so it still depends on u, if u feel it affords u some major int med experience (which in my opinion USCE would cover since u get to do that before application) or financial assistance or contact maybe that u may consider priority.
Having said that, I also am an img that graduated in 2012 and getting matched in 2016.

Hi guys. I'm an old grad from Russia. 2006 YOG. Took my test on June the 3rd. Received my score yesterday - 253. I'm a full time worker in a huge busy hospital. Also have family and a child. But it's doable, guys. I'll make a ditailed report on this forum in a few days.
