Anatomy Which spinal nerve roots supply the lateral cutaneous nerve?

47-year old moderately obese female comes to your office with pain in right lateral thigh area. In physical examination you find out tendernes when palpating inguinal ligament which radiates to lateral part of the femur. You are certain that patient has meralgia paresthetica and you are going to confirm you diagnosis injecting lidocain - bupivacain coctail around lateral cutaneous nerve of femur. Before injection you try to remember which nerve roots give raise to this particular nerve.

a) L1-L2
b) L2-L3
c) L3-L4
d) L4-L5
