Interesting question
I was thinking to write about this, but didn't really have time

In my own experience, I started working out when I started preparing for CK. It actually did help me to increase my stamina and overall fitness. This helped a lot when you are taking 9 hours 8 blocks exam

So, I do believe it's necessary for you to stay active during your prep.

Gym addict here!

If i miss a few days, i don't get my dopamine rush, i start getting frustrated, irritated, and lose concentration. I HAVE TO go to the gym, to lift weights, and also get in some cardio! If not, i'm in trouble!

Benefits:

1) You will sleep much better! That means you'll be able to concentrate better when you wake up!

2) Endorphins! Studying can be stressful...naturally relieve stress by getting some exercise! Nothing is better than walking out of the gym, after a nice lifting or cardio session! (don't overtrain though!!!)

3) Proven to increase HDL...protect your heart from disease!! also feel free to drink some red wine OCCASIONALLY and MODERATELY too!

There are other reasons too, so please add!

Combine that with a variety of fresh fruit, and vegetables, lots of protein to fill you up, build strong skeletal muscles, and take your fish oil supplements for all the benefits.

Also, stay hydrated with WATER.

Not a dumb question at all, fitness is extremely important. I personally didn't work out too much during my Step 1 prep and it definitely showed. Step 1 did a rough job on me, it took me several months to get back into shape.

The Goljan audio lectures come in handy if you don't like wasting time. Many of my classmates would go to the gym with these lectures on their mp3 players, and just listen and study while getting in a workout.

30 min - 1 hour a day of exercise shouldn't affect your prep. How many hours a day are you studying? If you're pulling in long hours, you need to recharge or you have a higher risk of burning out.

Also, Reggie Miller looks like an alien.

That's a great idea, I used to watch Kaplan video lectures when I was doing cardio during the exam prep time.
