Default Jehovah's Witnesses

Can anyone explain to me under what conditions you can/can't provide patients who are Jehovah's Wittnesses blood transfusions?

I Thought it was clear cut that you cannot but I came across a question in Uworld where the answer was that you should (the patients were unconscious and the father told the doctors that they were Jehovah's Witnesses)

If the Adult patient cannot communicate his/her wish regarding Blood transfusions or there is no legal documentation regarding it then the doctor is obligated to do what's in the best interest for the patient and transfuse blood if required.
In the UW question, although the husband mentioned that they are Jehovah's witnesses, that communication was not clear. The wife(Jehovah's witnesses) might still allow for blood transfusions and there is no legal document to verify that.
