I'm beginning to study for USMLE Step 1 , Need to know some advices, For example im going to study 8 hours for days, is it good? or i have to decrease the hours, i am studying just with LECTURE NOTES from Kaplan, First aid 2010, Goljan Review Pathology and BRS Physiology , Do I need more Books??, I need to know from you Guys what is the best Q Banks Kaplan or USMLE WORLD? And last and not least important when I have to take the exam in April or In June, when is the best time to take it?
This is good advice, it's what I'm doing. Also your books sound good, you probably don't need anymore books. It's better to have a few sources that you know really well instead of having a bunch of books that you can't get through. Start off with those, and then if you find you need more help in a particular subject then you can get another book.
Agreed - Also, depending on what you want your match schedule to be, an April date might be better and give you more time. However, you have to complete at least one read before you know how familiar you are with the material and then you can decide what timeline works best for you. Kaplan and UW are good banks and you should prob. do them in that order. You can do Consult as well if you can schedule the time...
So you have 6-8 months to read. 3-4 months for qbanks I think (and reviewing). So 3-4 months of reading. It depends on how well you know subjects. Path and phys as much I know is two high-yield topics so I think that those are the ones you should read. I on the other hand have to learn the basics because I feel that I must have little more confidence.
But remember. Q:s are important for learning and good way also to test your knowledge. remember to review fully the wrong answers.I am doing step1 in july, august.
