USMLE Scores Step 1 score 212

Hello friends. I received my score on the 10th of July & am very worried. I was expecting a score >220. I don't know what happened! My poorest performance was in renal & resp, areas that I thought I had covered well.
Anyways, what is done is done. Do you guys feel that I have a chance for an IM residency? Feeling very low & dearly looking for advice

try to focus on your next step.... It's a matter of luck in residency..... People scored over 240 but could not matched and some scored 202, got matched... LUCK, and fortune favor the brave.
I can feel you are slight demotivated,,, but hope it will help and I don't know if it is right time to ask Q, how you studied Pathology?

Thanks for the encouraging words. I guess time will heal, but right now, I'm kind of under the cloud. You are right, I have to focus on tasks ahead, rather than dwell upon the past.
As far as patho is concerned, I did BRS, some Kaplan, Wikipedia & youtube. Also listened to most of the goljian lectures. Wrote down everything I did not know on uworld in the FA. I hope this helps. Thanks.

Do not loose your hope at all, of course you get matched. matching is a multifactorial process, step 1 score is one of the important criteria but still they would evaluate you over all. so just study hard for your step 2. and stop thinking about your step 1 score. good luck with your step 2

Default Not good.

I feel you have an uphill task as anything less than 220 now a days puts you on a sticky wicket. No chance of IM, to say the least. It's getting tough & low scores like yours will be filtered out by program software. Study hard for 2 ck & be realistic.

that's very very grossly wrong of him to say something like that. I don't know how can such people say something so confidently..as if they are some program director..!! ofcourse you are definitely fit for IM...if you score a 240 in step 2 CK...you are matched for sure.!! USCE will put u on even better level.

IM and paeds ..both will be doable for you. No need to think of Fm yet. don't get disheartened please.

Ofcourse you can. CK is easier than step1 also..look for a lot of observerships and clerkships. It will be great if you are able to establish good contact..then thr won't be any kind of "filters" which some ppl keep talking about. also CS in 1st attempt. step 1 will just look like an honest mistake.

I m still amazed how can some ppl outrightly say no to anyone's chance in the US. anything is possible for someone with sincere efforts. Noone has the right to say rude things. esp when they are just one of us..i would better listen to someone who have succeded in their US dream.

It have seen people with lower scores getting in to IM. I wonder why people give discouraging comments,

Dont be disheartened...210+ Its a good score.I know someone with 205 score who got into IM residency.Get US clinical experience and US LORs.

Keep trying till u get what u want.Dont listen to people who love to pull others down.

Study hard for step 2 and get a stellar score
