Listening Never been able to do practice questions

Hi everyone!

I have ALWAYS had problems with doing practice questions... in anything. Subconciously I will not (no matter how much I try) take them seriously..

I will miss stuff, or just give because bottom line I KNOW THEY DO NOT COUNT. I have never been able to do practice questions in my LIFE. I know that I will eventually have to sit down hours on end and take the test, but its different because it WILL count.

I have tried and tried because in all forums I have read they are absolutely essential to passing the boards. I want to take step 1 in 2 months but cannot for the life of me get around to the questions and all I do is waste time with them... I am freaking out because EVERYONE says I MUST do questions in order to do good.

is it possible to still do good in the exam not having done Q Banks? Is there ANYONE out there that just studied their brain off and never did questions prior to the test date?

Also.. are questions in the q bank really something I will see again? I mean EXACTLY?

If anyone can help please do....

If you cant do practise tests what u should do is uworld qbank subjectwise ... The reason is no matter how much u study the questions tell you how the info will be asked.... U can still PASS the boards without qbanks but if ur an IMG u need to do well not just pass... The questions are not an exact repeat but u will definately miss out on a lot of concepts that u think u know but are not tested straight forward... My advice do the qbanks as a learning tool not as practise test

Idea! My idea

You can trick yourself psychologically into thinking that practice questions DO Count.

Take NBME. If you score bad in the NBME (because of negligence), this means you will score bad in the test. NBME reliably predict USMLE Score.

After that you will be scared and you will start taking the practice questions (and the entire exam for that matter) more seriously.

You will not pass without doing practice questions. You do not need to complete entire question banks, but try to do a few hundred at least. It will really help you.

I've personally seen long forms and short forms. So I'm pretty sure either can show up on the exam so make sure to know them.
