Default Why is there bloating, abdominal distension in fat malabsorption?

sorry for my very dumb question but why does a fat malabsorption patient, or a post cholecystectomy patient might develop abdominal distension, bloating after having a heavy fatty meal?? I tried to find the answer in couple of books but didnt get any clue. All i know the abdomen is distended, bloated but i dont know why.

Is this because of high osmotic gradient of intestinal lumen due to unabsorbed fat which holding the water causing you the distension and bloating? or is this due to breakdown of excess unabsorbed lipids by the gut flora producing gas as a biproduct? or both?

Please kindly help someone.
