Question Best time to do Step 1 Exam

hi i am an IMG (but a US citizen ). I am currently in first year at med school. I am planning to go to US for residency for which i would have to give the STEPS. So i need some help. Just want to ask when should i give the Step 1? I would just have a break of 1 month after my basic sciences finish and the clinical years start and one month is obviously not enough. So should i give it after completing med school ( which means waiting too long ) or should i start preparing it now with the basic sciences still going on so i might be able to give it before the start of the clinical years?

Hey just tweak your studies according to the step 1 format. Meaning while you study your main textbooks keep these review books like Kaplan n FA with you too. So while you are at it you will know what to focus on.
