Planning Starting now. Goal is 2015 Match

I migrated to USA in may, well it took time for me to get settled here, now i am studying for step one. i spend my time on study only, no works. i am going through video and books and question...

what i am trying to know is when is the best time i can schedule my exam to sit in 2015 match... since i am new to this pattern it would be a great help for me...

if there is something extra i can do to prepare, currently i dont have any LORS, and i am about to ask my professor for that very soon

Hey maybe it's best to get some electives or externships. There's no rush to sit the exams or be certified by a certain date. You should rather take a little more time and score well instead of scoring poor while rushing through the material in order to be done by a certain day.

Do you have a green card?

Hi Abhi....how is your progress in your prep? that will definitly give yourself the timing for when to sit on your exam. What I see most people do is after a first review or finishing a Qbank they take an assessment UWSA or NBME to see where they stand, how to keep studying and even where to schedule their tests.

I havent give my Step 1 but that's what I'm planning to do too, Im also thinking of sitting for march! So good luck and keep up forward!

Do some UWSA and NBMEs to know the status of your preparation first. If you are getting a good score then go ahead and chose your triad ( three month period in which you can take your exam). If not then continue your studies and get a subscription of UW Q bank which will orientate you well for the exam. And it has already been pointed out for you that you must do some externships and observorship before you apply for the match in order to get LORs which is of paramount significance. Happy Prep!

Honest advice:

If you want to get matched by 2015 you need to get done with Step 1, 2 CK and CS by July 2014 along with a few USCE and LoRs.

Hope that helps.
