Help Few questions from a beginner

I have started preparing for step1 a month back. I have few doubt's :
- What is the difference between Kaplan q book and q bank. Which one is better?
- I bought golijan book but didn't get videos or slides with it. So do we have to purchase them separately.
- I am finding histology very difficult and couldn't understand the notes given in Kaplan. Is this topic high yield?
- How early should we schedule for step 1. Suppose I plan to hove step 1 in Jan, Is it OK if I apply around Dec?
- Are there chances to get LORs after doing observership?
Thank you for reading my doubt's I will highly appreciate it if someone helps me out. I am really loosing confidence. Everything seems very complicated.
