Hi all,
I want to narrate my Step 1 experience, hopefully it will be useful to you guys in this forum.
About me:
22 y.o 6th year medical student (here medicine lasts 7 years) in Peru
Time of Prep:
Approx 1 year (I started studying in May 2012 and took my exam July 31st, however I stopped studying from December to March because I was doing a clerkship in the US)
During all this time I was taking my regular classes at my medical school, so I didn't have any "exclusive" study time. I was Mostly 3-4 hr sessions each day, some more, some less; some days I didn't even study at all.
Materials Used:
Kaplan series Books + Videos
First Aid
First aid qbook + case studies
Kaplan Q Book
CMMRS
Goljan Path
BRS Physio
BRS Behavioral
Kaplan QBank 79% (First try)
UWorld: 78%(First Try)
(Did both q banks twice)
NBME:
6: 200
5: 240
13: 245
12: 247
15: 252 ( i know i took way too many NBME's)
UWSA1 260
UWSA2 262
Test: 257
Tips:
Starting early is a great advantage, start taking note in your first aid ASAP, specially from qbanks and NBME questions you get wrong, but also from concepts from other books. Use the mark feature in your exam to go over questions in which you have doubts makes a great difference.
Please do let me know if there is any questions about my experience.
Cheers.
