can anyone tell me what is the most common organism responsible for causing infective endocarditis?
Goljan says Strep. viridans
and Uworld says Staph aureus

Acute (meaning there was no previous damage to the valves + more symptoms) is cause by S.aurreus.....Common in IV drug users (on tricuspid valve)
Subacute (having a damaged valve predisposes to viridans...like after a dental procedure)-- Viridans
