Question Weird Questions in Real Exam?

I had my Step 1 exam yesterday.
I'd prepared pretty well and solved all of UWorld and in my last NBME got 247 - 12 days before the exam.

But I still saw some questions I had never heard of and where I couldn't even make an educated guess and had no hunch - I just picked at random.

How many people have had this?

Were the questions too clinical? Were they research in nature? Were they sort of tricky high yield material? Did you encounter highly low yield material? In what way were they weird? Describe respecting the rules and regulations regarding the exam and this website.

guys dont freak out.. wierd questions are part of the exam..u cant do anything abt it. all u can do is make a guess and move on saving time for the rest.. dont panic at any point. so, concentrate on revising stuffs u already read, dont think about the exp questions now. not worth worrying about..

I am just curious if there's any chance one could ever prepare for these kind of questions, that's why people ask. I feel saying:" Don't worry people, just make a guess and go ahead" is not a sufficient reply.

Exactly, someone plz tell us if there is any special topic about which they always ask such experimental questions, so that we can give a thorough read to it, i know everyone's exam is different, but the topics might be same

wen ppl say dont worry just guess and move on , its obvious that u cant prepare in any ways for those questions. say if i tell u weird questions are from genetics, will u sit and prepare for it? you can do it if its just genetics.. noone can tell u from which subject those questions are.. because test takers never really understand the content of those questions! you dont even know which are exp questions and if they are really valued.. tats why ppl say stop wasting time for some 8 to 10 percent questions which u dont even kno they are valued or not.. be realistic and study hard to get the other questions right. that is wise..

I scored a 247 on my last nbme 2 days before the exam and scored a 246 on the real deal. So there s nothing to worry. These Qs show up on everybody's exam. And as everyone says many of these are bound to be experimental Qs which aren't even evaluated for your performance. You are shooting for a 250+ I think. Best of luck!!

And yeah to help out others, reading anything from anywhere is not enough so ' just make a guess and move on '

BUSHY, anatomy questions were tricky in my exam .only one question was straight fwd, got x ray and bone pic too.. i felt them tough.. tough in the sense, they asked me function of muscle attached at the bone they showed. if u have time , i would suggest you read origin and insertion of few imp muscles. i had prepared for that at the end of my prep bt didnt remember them in the exam.. regarding brachial plexus, know what is given in fa . tat is enough.

and biochemistry was not that tricky in the exam. all the questions were straight forward.. i dont remember getting a question in lipid and protein metabolism , may be one or two.. but carbohydrate metabolism was heavily tested.. i should say fa was more than enough for biochem. any more questions?
