Help I Need HELP!

Hi Guys

I started studying my step 1 on May 2013 & my exam was on 5th Nov. 2013 ... All i did was just:
1. Watched Kaplan Videos for Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Immunology & Biostatistics only.
2. I studied Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Immunology & Biostatistics from Kaplan lecture notes.
3. Done the rest of the curriculum from FA.
4. I Done the Curriculum twice before the exam.
5. Done UW only & once with a cumulative score 63%.

Now i failed, got 178 & i'm really frustrated .. so please help me to re-enter the exam .. what should i do more??!

Take nbmes (12, 15, keep the 7 for 2 wks before the test) and work on your weakness.
Spend time making sure that you understand very well all the concepts. You used good study sources. Just go through your material again and again and thouroughly, you'll do well next time!

Don't give up and good luck!

Default i know how you feel

hi phantom!
i took my step1 dec of last year, a few weeks after giving birth. even if i was advised not to take it (since i felt so unprepared), i still took it because i maxed out my extension period. i too failed...and i took care of my baby for the next few months. but now i started reviewing again, pretty much the same sources that you mentioned. but a lot of my batchmates advised me to do A LOT of UWORLD exams and NBME. that will help you test what you know and understand what you might have missed. anyway, God bless and don't lose hope!

I havent taken the exam yet, coming up in two weeks

I think a lot of the exam goes beyond just remembering facts, getting to the point of what theyre actually asking can be the challange sometimes! One thing that ive found has helped me a lot while working through the Qbanks is to build up a written list of reasons that i got a wrong answer, beyond just not knowing the material...for example not considering compensatory responses in autonomic pharm questions, not using/rearranging equations properly, or just plain not reading the question correctly etc. You may start to see patterns appearing for reasons you arrive at the wrong answer, and based on this can develop a "trouble-shooting" strategy of things to systematically go though in your head and think about when youre faced with a question youre stuck on...

Good luck!
