You would never retain anything if you just read stuff blindly. Learning the concepts properly is the first step in making sure you would remember that topic for a long period of time. So make sure you invest energy in learning concepts first instead of reading first aid blindly. First aid is more of a review of those concepts you already know . You can use kaplans for understanding the basics of topics

It's very normal my friend. We all go through it that way. I suppose u have read Kaplan notes already, even that u still may not be able to remember much but at least the good thing is u would be able to solve some questions right.
U need to keep reading the FA and doing questions this would reinforce the concepts gradually. But if u genuinely think FA is not ur style than stop FA. And make ur own review book through doing plenty questions.

Thanks..so I took notes from Kaplan biochem,immuno,physio.
Now I decided to read FA. I know i might have to read it more then once to remember everything, but it scares me. The thing is I have to take my NBME comp in Jan, then I have to take step, so since i have a month to get all my studying in scares me a little. Any advice for the comp exam?

WHat Caribbean school do you go to?

Your best bet is to focus on your weaknesses and not forget your strengths. You will be fine for comp as long as you know your stuff.
