Can you guys please share your thoughts on what can be done to speed up our preparation for step 1? I am taking a lot of time in watching kaplan videos, writing down extra points from videos, and mastering concepts of all the 7 volumes ....I don't know when can I really appear for exam...pls help me....

First of all ask yourself if you need to speed up. If you have a certain dead line by when you need to take your exam and you aren't gonna meet it, then yeah you can try to speed up, but realize you will be sacrificing some knowledge.

If you are seriously putting effort in then you are going at the right speed. These early days of watching Kaplan videos are the most important days. They are the foundation and you should take as long as you need to get it rock solid.

At my school we pretty much had no Neuroanatomy due to some issues that occurred (That's how Caribbean schools roll), so I had to learn it all on my own through Kaplan. Took me almost an entire month of Kaplan videos to go through Neuro and have a good understanding of it. Was that a lot of time? hell yeah, but it was well worth it because now my Neuro is absolutely on point.

Long story short, unless there is some serious pressing time issue that requires you to be prepared by a certain date, I highly suggest you take the time you need and not cut any corners. If you get this foundation stage done correctly, you will have a much easier time going forward. If you try and rush and cut corners now, you will have a hard time later on.

When you start doing UWorld you will notice a lot of questions (especially in Biochem and Molecular bio) that make absolutely no sense. Talk about ridiculous procedures that you have never heard of in your entire life. The thing is if you know your foundation knowledge, you can still answer the question without understanding 100% what the question is talking about.

Anyways, just stick to it, and when you get one of those questions and you realize that you just solved a complex problem not through memorization, but through your own genuine use of logical and deductive thinking, you'll be grateful you took the time.
