Thumbs Up How did I get 247 in 2 months

Hi...I am an IMG finished my medical school in 2005.Now I am about to finish my superspeciality in surgical discipline.I prepared for step 1 in 2 months. I will be writing the overview of my preparation which will help some of the aspirants who want to prepare in a short time.
I was working in hospital during all the time and managed to get 4 hours during week days and 8-10 hours during weekends.

Materials used(in the order of importance)
1. FA - most imp
2. USMLE world
3. Kaplan notes (Biochem, behavioral, immunology)
4. HY neuroanatomy (helped me to understand neuro part of FA)

Time taken for preparation- 2months(Gave step 2 ck before step 1)

Method- First went through physio, biochem and immunology videos of kaplan since I was feeling underconfident in these subjects(Did not help me much frankly-but gave some confidence). Then started doing USMLE world and FA.Finished them and gave NBME 15 - scored 217( this i did for 6 week)

After this did biochem, behavioral twice from Kaplan(Rapid revision) and immunology once.I also went through population genetics since did not know anything about it(this in 5 days)

Finally did FA over 10 days. Also looked at HY neuroanatomy superficially during this time.

One day before exam- read imp points from FA.Slept early after taking one tablets of alprazolam....had a excellent sleep(I often take a tablet of alprazolam night before any exam)

Day of exam- reached exam center 1 hour early. Was confindent.Did first too block back to back. After 2 blocks, took 2-4min break between two blocks.Finished my whole exam 1 hour 15min before the total time.

When I was going out of exam center,I felt my exam has gone well. I felt it was easier than NBME 15.I was expecting a score around 250.

Final score 247.

Remember-

I feel FA is the most imp book for USMLE.But its so condensed that, you will understand and remember it if you have a good knowledge about your medical school subjects.

This was my way of preparation.Every individual is different...so the method of preparation.Formulate your own method.Dont follow any method blindly....

Good luck for every one.....
