Listening Step 1: 220 - Any Future Hopes?

Hello everyone.. I got my Step1 results today and its between 220-225
(not revelaing exact score to avoid identitiy disclosure to friends who are on this forum)

I would like to know from the "experts" that is this score "just average", "below average" or "good"? My personal feelings are very very bad and low considering the fact that everyone these days seems to be scoring in 240s.

Is there any good future associated with this? I am in two minds about continuing for CK due to this low score and need your advice guys...

Any help will highly appreicated. Thank you.

I would say that most people who score lower do not actually post their scores, so there will be some reporting bias. It may seem like everyone is scoring 240+, but that's not the case.

An average score on Step I can be countered by a good score on Step II, and good US clinical experience/grades. Step I is just a piece of the puzzle (though it's an important piece). You didn't fail... you didn't rock it, but you did well! Keep your head up!

Thank you... I know its a so-so score.. I was expecting higher 220s...

Anyways, could you tell me is it competitive enough for IM and FM residencies?
(I do have few months of USCE)

I wish I could! I'm still just a student, so I don't have any first hand experience! I do honestly believe that it is competitive for FM and IM. You have US experience, which is HUGE! Try to get some letters of recommendation from that faculty?

I know of a few people who have matched FM with 220's or below, so it is very do-able! Rock out with step II, and impress folks on the wards

(again, this is just based off of what friends of mine have experienced.)
