Hey guys, I always read this forum for advice so I thought I would submit my step 1 experience. I wrote early November of this year. I got 238.

UWSA 1: 230 (1 month out)
UWSA 2: 238 (3 days before over a 2 day period) I had bought it but didn't have time to do it in one day

NBME 15: 216 (1 week before)

Kaplan q bank: 52% Did it first, finished 1.5 months before exam
U World: 62% only finished 93%, ran out of time, you need at least 1.5 months to go through this properly
(timed- random)

Resources: Pathoma (went through twice), 1st Aid (twice) and Kaplan videos (wrote notes into 1st aid) took me 3 months to watch almost all the videos except behaviour, path and physiology.

Test day: Thought I had failed, felt it was very difficult difficult. Long stems and weird pic, had no clue on heart sounds, guessed on alot on questions.

Advice: Ignore this forms (even though I'm posting lol) just study your ass off, with this intent of learning not just trying to increase your score. I screwed myself on test day on subjects I though I had down but turned out in the moment of battle I was really unsure. Don't compare your scores to others and always get sleep, go running or gym and eat healthy!

My thanks to all those you have posted in this forum and wish everyone the best in their careers! Becoming a doctor is a humbling experience!

Hey Faith255,

I only did one NBME 15 (online) 7 days before my exam. I had planned to do more but kind felt that I needed to review FA more and doing more NBME exams wasn't helping me personally learn more or review. One thing that I did discover though that did help me was the timing. I noticed I was consistent almost every block but there would always be one where I did significantly worse then the others. I attributed to my perception that this particular block was harder (which could have been the case), however, more importantly by perceiving it as harder I spent more time on the questions then I should have. As a result I would have to speed through other q's in order to make up time and in turn I made more stupid mistakes then I normally would have. so from a timing point of view it helped tons on test day to ensure maximum performance on each question.

Not sure if that answered you q...haha
