Default Step 1 score of 245. What are the chances of residency

Hi guys. Passing all the steps is a huge commitment for a non-US citizen IMG like myself. What are the chances of residency with a step 1 score of 245. I don't have USCE and no LoR. So scores are pretty much all I'll have. Any honesty is much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey, no one can really predict that. I know an IMG who got into surgery with 244 in both steps. What is your desired residency? I think you will be fine with a 245, according to the NRMP IMG Match document that was recently posted.

Do you mind posting your preparation and exam experience?

thanks

Hey, thanks for the reply. Any residency will do for me to be honest. I prepared for around 8 months but had huge trouble getting my application processed because my med school messed up the seal on one of the forms. Even if the color is slightly off they make a huge fuss. So I really started studying my butt off during the last 4 months.
I used FA and Goljans RR for pathology. Both these books were great. I read one topic from FA along with the corresponding section in RR and made my own comprehensive note which I studied over and over. Once I finished one section (eg. CVS) I would do the questions based on that section in the usmle world qbank. I really think that these three resources are more than enough to get 250+. To be honest I was expecting to get over 250 but I made a colossal number of stupid mistakes and my form wasn't too hard. So the harsh curve must've brought the score down. Anyway, for everything other than pathology I used my med school notes to compliment FA. One resource I found incredibly useful was Wikipedia. I know it sounds weird but it has ALL the information we need and then some. Especially for micro I found it really useful. I used to bookmark bugs from Wikipedia on my tab and read them whenever I was bored. I never liked Kaplan notes. Way too long and unnecessarily verbose. FA saved my butt in this exam.
The exam itself was pretty fair. I thought that around 70% could be directly answered from FA. 20% you'd have to figure out and weren't impossible if you had a reasonable amount of brains. The remaining 10% sucked b#&*s. I guessed on these and pretty much got them all wrong. Time was never a factor till the last block. I was feeling great till I hit my final set. It was AWFUL. I marked exactly half and had no clue on at least 4 of the questions. So don't panic if you get a crappy block. Of course the converse is also true.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask anything.
