Default Question about using FA (duration) and my USMLE study plan

Hello everyone, I just started preparing for my exam since the 20th of December and have since only completed Bhevioral Science, Biostats, Neuroanatomy, Histology and Cell Biology, and Pathology. I still have to do Micro, Immuno, Gross Anatomy, Pharmacology, and Physiology.

After I completed my Pathology and started doing a few USMLERx questions, I realized that my time would be better spent trying to read FA once before I attempt to do these questions. Has anyone tried this approach? I decided on doing this first because I bought a USMLERx triple deal subscription (where you get the HY factoids, videos with worksheets for every system, and the Rx q bank). So now, I'm reading each system (takes me 1-1 1/2 days) and then do the worksheets for that system. Since my physio is also week, I'm watching Kaplan Physio vids along with the lecture notes for the system I'm doing that day.

However, I realized that going through FA would take me about a 1-2 months, which seems like a lot of time. Do I think I should be finishing it earlier? I think it's taking me a little longer as I'm also doing the Kaplan physio vids with each system. I think after going through a first pass of FA, I will do Kaplan Biochem, pharmacology (most probably use flashcards + parts of lippincotts pharm + FA for this), and finally Microbio and Immuno (I finished Immuno last year but I don't really remember anything, so I have to go through it again.)

Do you think this study approach is strange/inefficient? I'm planning to take Step 1 in July (end), so I don't know when to really start doing Q banks.

note: I've already done a few qs in USMLERx but was quite disappointed with getting so many wrong (except in patho, histo, cell bio) that I keep getting discouraged. I now realize that this is probably 'cause I hadn't really started FA by the time I was attempting Rx q's.

Thanks a lot!

I would start questions today if I were you! Trust me you wont regret it - doesnt matter if you feel like you're doing qs randomly without getting the answers but its all going into your head! and you can always repeat the wrongs later on in your revision
