If you buy Kaplan qBank you get 2 simulated exams with 7 blocks 46 qs each and one diagnostic exam with 150qs and of course your 2200+ qs

Hey, I have no idea how they compare to UWSA or NBME. I just did the Kaplan diagnostic exam (150 qs) and ended up with 76%, I have no idea where this would put me on the real exam? Are there any reliable score correlators?

not sure what that correlates to, but i think 76% is a good score. i remember them telling us the diagnostic is mostly to do before studying to get a baseline...and the average it usually like 50%. hope that helps.

Dont get discouraged with uworld scores, its just a learning tool. Learn ur mistakes and from ur mistakes and make sure you dont do them again and in the end do nbme which is pretty much the most predictable of the scores we are gonna get..

Yea. Uworld is the thing man! Very soon u would start hitting the 80s ones u did Kaplan already. Infact I scored 46% twice. Some I could get like 87% so that's how it goes. Don't get into the meat of anxiety with uworld. Just use it as a learning tool. My study mate scored all blocks in 70s and 80s and few 60s whiles I did mostly in 60s but I scored far higher than him in the uwsa. So man don't worry! It's better to get hit with tough concepts then get easy ones on ur exams.

Depends on what your goals are? Taking NBMEs offline is a bad predictor... 151 right could be a 210 or 215 (151*1,4) ... but who knows. Have you started Uworld?

Default Self assessment Step 1

Hi Friend

I am planning to take step 1 in late May or early June.

I completed first reading of all materials that I have.

I have rough assessment on USMLE first Aid Q & A with (average 37/50) in all including all basics and systems. AND

* 3 block ECFMG website free question average (39/46)

But friends are saying that both First Aid Q & A and ECFMG website free question blocks are very easier than the questions that appear in real USMLE exam.

Do you think this is just average performance? I am just expecting 225+ in both steps( Equivalent to old two digit 99)

Please advise me what to do to strengthen my knowledge

Man 84.8% in free 150q is big plus congratulations. U would not just get 225 but 240+ if u keep ur prep up considering u want to write in may/June u have time to improve big time

Thank you Nsesereso for the complement

I am an old graduate & have lack of confident to score as you stated. I am just planning to get 31+ in each block targeting 225-230.

more ambitious- more nervousness-less achievement

Thank you

Hey, how do you guys manage to do 2 blocks a day with annotating stuff into first aid and revising it?
Do you revise the specific topic asked in the questions, or do you start your FA from page one while going through Uworld.

It's hard to improve further... last 4 blocks were 83%... there's always something you don't know, and of course I am doing silly mistakes...

Wow am so impressed.
It looks like the scoring system has been tightened up, becos 25 wrong shd be giving u 245!

Or I will say that the old nbme scoring is bad may be becos the question style has changed. But 25 wrong in 13 15 or 16 would be >245

nope, but I'm my opinion they are not so good as score predictors... I would use them as time-simulation exam, just to train focusing for 7h+1

It took me around 40 days for uworld :/ along with FA reads, how many questions are you attempting each day? so you think nbme 7 should be given first?

Well I don't see an improve in my UWorld scores, I am kinda stuck. The mistakes I make are either stupid or stuff I have never heard about such as... don't give Vitamin B6 with Levodopa...

I try to do 2 blocks a day with annotating in my FA, but I don't have time to revise the specific chapter. I feel I am moving to slow.

Here's a picture of my Uworld Curve. And I also think my scores are fluctuating...

well UW wouldnt be such a good qbank if you got 100%
buddy!
they want us to learn new stuff...
im averaging 78% at half the qbank done...only one block a day.

so you gave the nbme form,
how did you find it, coz 239 seems a great score!!

hey everyone's score fluctuate in beginning..after doing it repeatedly it seems to stabilize.. don't panic & keep doing it as a learning tool .. i started off with 75% only cz i did offline uw 1st but after repeatedly doing it i raised only 2 % making it 77% cumulative.. let nbme be the judge.. Thanks guys... well I found the NBME questions quite easy. Still did a few stupid mistakes, but the ones I made aren't about stuff I have never heard before, these were just stuff like: metabolic acidosis without respiratory compensation (even though the Pco2 was like 25mmHg.... that's just a stupid mistake)

People say that the exam is harder than Uworld and the same difficulty as NBMEs... so far what I think: Uworld has some twisted qs that need lots of thinking, and NBME7 qs are just phrased easier and more clearly.

I don't know how hard the other NBMEs are, I just hope that the real exam is close to an NBME without a lot of tricky questions.

Uworld average is now 76%

yes dear UW takes time
i can only manage 1 block a day, it would take 45 days for UW and then you also have to revise it along with FA, so better postpone
GL..!!

hey all,
Need some input!!!

The nbme performance profile--the weak/borderline/strong areas-- is it based ONLY on the number of rights out of wrongs???
or does it depend also on if u've 'marked' the question or not?

My performance profile shows renal as a weak area. but i have only 4 wrong( 2 of them are blunders! )....but i dont remember if i marked any other renal qs during the test......

Im confused abt the analysis!!!!!!!! - help!

So im not sure of the NEXT step......
revise renal?... or revise generally? whatever i felt im pretty poor at recollecting?...

I don't think marking a questions goes into the scoring.
Probably u got few questions in renal so getting 4 wrong was huge percentage of renals being wrong.

WOW very impressive!!! you have a solid preparation man!
i wish i would be getting those scores, my cumulative right now is not the best 68% and i have done roughly 30% of uworld, i hope to rise it a little bit!!
when i get 55ish scores man i get depressed but then that makes me study harder as well.
i find that stupid mistakes i make when im tired by doing blocks at night, but i have no choice cause sometimes it takes me the whole day revising a block.
well i hope sitting for the exam end of april, but i think it will take me longer.
my family is pushing me to give the test soon but no one understands what this is all about !! hahahaha guess some of you will feel identified.
good luck

All the best to everyone

Oh well I know what you are talking about... I did a block the other day and ended up with a lower percentage... I was mad and thought:"lets just do another one to improve my average again"... Rule nr 1. Don't do questions when you are tired, sleepy, hungry or in a bad mood

You should take the exam when you feel ready, don't let anybody push you. It is you who decides when you feel well enough prepared and it's your future which will be a "little bit" determined by the test result

1.36 it almost gives you the same score as the official nbme's i have observed or -1,2 points so its better to underestimate than overestimate and then cry over your official score 1.4 overestimates imo

Well for my nbme 11 the score is perfect with 1.4 but for my nbme12 it's not but rather 1.37. So just as curaçao said. It shd be from 1.38-1.4 but use 1.38 or 1.37. These guys have tightened the scoring system.
Also one important thing I saw was that the question numbers are changed for the various forms. Example the online answers would not match exactly the same question. But the questions are the same. So u would see a question on beh ethics as ur section 1 question 4 but two years ago it was their question 10 so finding the answers online to search questions become difficult unless they have the question posted and then the answer is given.

Good luck.

others aren't required really.
are you planning to revise RR?

I did uwsa 1 yesterday and got 211 , very depressed. This is the first time I take an assessment test. I intend to take few NBMEs this week but now I think I postpone them to review stuff again.
Can someone give me advices ? Thank you so much and good luck to you!

Correct Answer test date scheduled

So scheduled my test date: last week of May, done with 50% of uworld.
im increasing my scores progressively which assures me a lot.
reinforcing concepts with each question.
pretty nervous about finally giving it but relieving at the same time.
giving my next nbme at the end of uworld after the uwsa 1 and 2, probably ill do 16

Exam in 35 days.
read FA well then only go for an Nbme.
you dont want a low score that would demoralise you.
GLuck!

better hurry!
you would only get time for 1 FA revision, if you do it well then it wont be a problem

please dont panic!
you are taking care of a two month old that itself is a full time job!!!
get done with UW first
give an nbme
start revising FA fixed number of pages daily.
revise UW as per convenience
No point giving Nbme every week, its a time consumimg affair, especially searching for right answers is really irritaing. i suggest you spend more time reading FA and UW coz youll hardly have any repeat nbme questions
Do one more Nbme a week before, read your weak subjects and get it done with!
good luck and keep looking here for motivation :-)

youre doing a great job, keep on with it.
if you have done an NBME before uworld no need to do just as pranavmerchant suggested, however if you havent done any at all, i do suggest taking it since youve completed 50% of uworld so far, this nbme (online of course) will guide you with your weaknesses which you can focus more when revising the last 50% of uworld.
after uworld the plan pranavmerchant said is the best, read FA fully cover to cover (also can divide your time between half revising marked and incorrect ones and half time studying FA if you have 8-10hours study time, if not its better to focus on FA being your time so short) and then before the test do NBME 16 to see if youve reached your desired score
good luck you will do great.

Faith have u done any other qbank?
What target would u be happy with?
I would advise that u do Kaplan qbank of systems or areas u are weak at according to ur nbme that shd be in the first two weeks of April.
Listen to Goljan audios very well.
U would be fine.
What did u do for pathology? How is ur performance in pathology?

Default Advice for last week

Hey guys, I just wanted some advice as to what to do last week before my test (taking it april 10th) here are my stats:

UWSA1: 252
NBME 16: 241

94 % of Uworld completed, with a 71% average all random timed.
Planning on doing a full length exam on friday (NBME 15 + my 3 remaining blocks of Uworld)

what do you guys think? Starting to feel the pressure...
