United Kingdom England's IMG USMLE Step 1 Review Plans

Hi Everyone,

I've listed out some basic facts about my situation as an international medical student, and how I plan on studying for the USMLE Step 1. Could someone please take a look at it and tell me if it sounds reasonable, or better still, make any suggestions as to how I can improve upon it? This includes unreasonable study schedules, and unnecessary books!

Country of Study: England
Current Year: 2nd of a 6 year course
Planned USMLE 1 Test Date: September 2013
Desired USMLE 1 Score: 250
Allocated Study Time: 2-3h a day on average during term time, 10h+ during summers and just before exam

Books/Resources I Plan On Using:
  1. Kaplan Lecture Notes + DVDs
  2. First Aid for the USMLE Step 1
  3. Rapid Review Pathology by Goljan (is this the 500 pg version?) + Goljan Audio
  4. BRS Physiology
  5. LANGE Review of Medical Microbiology & Immunology
  6. Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology
  7. HY Neuroanatomy
  8. HY Behavioral Science
  9. HY Biostatistics
  10. HY Embryology
  11. Kaplan Q Book
  12. USMLE World QBank (3 month subscription)
  13. Kaplan QBank (1 month subscription)

Study Timeline:
My schedule is not ideal because I have to balance normal term time work with the studying, but then again, there's nothing I can do about that is there?

Now - Mid 2012:
- Read/Watch/Listen to Kaplan Books + DVDs, highlighting important points
- Work through associated sections in Kaplan Q Book

Mid 2012:
- Work through Kaplan Online QBank for 1 Month

Mid 2012 to Jan 2013:

Read through the following books, focusing on areas which were weak based on assessment from Kaplan Online QBank:
  • BRS Physiology
  • LANGE Review of Medical Microbiology & Immunology
  • Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology
  • HY Neuroanatomy
  • HY Behavioural Science
  • HY Biostatistics
  • HY Embryology
Feb - July 2013:
- Goljan Rapid Review Pathology + Audio

July 2013 (12h study a day):
- USMLE World + First Aid

August 2013 - Week before Exam (4-5h study a day, this is term time):
- NBME Forms + First Aid

Last Week (Sometime in September):
- First Aid Book Re-Reading ONLY

Many thanks to you all!
