Default The "annual" kaplan live lecture vs center prep or both thread!

Hello! Im a newbie in this forum, although I've being reading the different threads posted here for quite a long while, this is the first time I actually post something. My question, as the title implies, has been asked plenty of times, but I haven't seen any conclusive answers by people doing any of the courses that Kaplan offers.

The thing is, im an IMG, just a couple of weeks away from graduating from medical school, I'm planning on taking step 1 sometime between october and december this year. I'm strongly thinking of paying for the kaplan "deluxe" package which gives you 4 months of center prep + 7 week live lecture + qbanks. (not trying to do any sort of publicity here Has anyone here taken any of these courses, how has your experience been so far?, do you recommend them? should I just do live lectures or center prep alone?

I would really appreciate your answers guys!

I gotta make clear, I know my weaknesses and limitations, my foundation in certain topics of basic science isn't the best, so that's why I decided to go with the whole kaplan thing, also, I'm a person that gets easily distracted in home, so that's pretty much the only reason I take center prep in consideration.

I attended the 7-week live prep and can tell you that it was almost completely the same as the kaplan videos that are available for watch which many students have already. So really, not much to gain from that course. I think time would be better spent doing the videos by yourself.

and centerprep is just you going to a certain area in the kaplan center to watch those videos previously mentioned. only difference is that they have the older year editions and nothing new and up to date.

I'd recommend using your money on the following, HY kaplan videos, kaplan qbank, uworld and nbmes (extended feedback and online). Maybe even usmlerx qbank and express so that you can go through your first aid. This will save you money and time (both which are important)

I hope that answers your questions.

good luck!
