Default IMG step 1 255

IMG graduate Dominican Republic
oct 2012
intership 2013

Prep

6 hours a day , weekends 8 to 10 hours , some weekends off

All of this was while doing my internship in my country, its something we gotta do in order to obtain are medical license, its somethig like step 3, the difference is that its not a test and it last up to 1year

Kaplan Books and Videos 4 stars

overall good must do for IMGs if you prep during your faculty wasnt good

My recommendations : its try not to spend lot of time here, you will forget 80 percent of it but with FA you will recall it back, a least 80 percent

Favorite Books in Order Kaplan : Pharma , Biochemistry, Physio , MIcro

Books I regret kaplan : Anatomy especially neuro and histology

PATHOMA AND Goljan 5 stars

My favorite book PATHOMA and Goljan audios. MUST DO!!

First Aid 5 stars

Read it about 5 times.

First Aid Q and A 3 stars

USMLE WORLD q bank 5 stars

Must DO, random, unused, 46, all subjects, review all the Qs Right and the Wrong ones, didnt repeat the wrong ones, gotta learn the concept they will ask it 10 different ways.

Kaplan Q bank 3.5 stars

Only 300 questions overall good, not as USMLEWORLD

Test Day

Day of my exam was super nervous, the first 10 questions for were the hardest , when I was on the 10th question, I said to myself WHAT HAVE I GOT MYSELF INTO ! But it was the nerves in general, I found MY TEST MORE HARDER THAN Uworld.

USMLE WORLD my overall 80

USMLE world self assessment 1 245

NMBE 13 235

NBME 15 240

NBME 5 250

NBME 6 253

NBME 7 260

All of them where 1 month apart the most dramatics change of score was when got into fa and uworld, every time I had a low scoring subject, ive focus more in that particular one to pump up my score

yo

it depends on what score you want, its true when they say, more questions higher score, but if you do it wisely theres no need to bug your self with 1000s of qs, my q bank rank 1. Uworld 2. Kaplan 3. Rx, you can train yourself with kaplan qs, but trust me nothing its like usmleworld, this is a must do.

Nutshell
Do as many qs as you can.
MUST DO!! UWORLD no matter what
Try to learn the concept from all the qs, what make the right answer right !!what makes the wrong, wrong!! how can a change the qs son the wrong becomes the right!!
Thank and GOOD LUCK and STUDY HARD

congratulations for ur success on step1.
i am an IMG have 2 take exam by this february.but not able 2 do it.
i did uworld.frankly speaking i got good scores in which areas i have strong knowledge n weak scores in which areas i dont have pretty good knowledge.
so i found my weak areas now. have 2 workup now for a weak n then i may go for online NBME.
anyway i have 2 finish reading n learning n have 2 give exam as early as 2weeks from now in mid of march. i wasted alot of money investing on this exam.
i m loosing my confidence day by day as i m not able 2 reach my target scores on desired date.
can u suggest me what 2 read at this point plz? thanks
