The exam is definitely stressful with a lot of pressure to do well in it! Some thoughts:

-I think that it's important to remember the phrase ”this too shall pass.” The pain is finite. There will be a reward for all of your effort and sacrifice!

-Try not to put your life completely on hold. Life is more than the USMLEs (although it may not feel like it.) Make room in your life for important occasions and special moments. When a special moment is happening, make sure that you are there to savor it.

-Make sure you look after yourself. Eat well, sleep enough and exercise regularly.

-Do continue to be in relationship with your family, friends and colleagues (even on forums!)

-Do the best you can. If you are at med school, try to integrate the materials to your Step 1 study. If you're working full time, be realistic about what you can do. If you have children, be prepared for unexpected delays in your study timeline. Just do the best you can in your situation.

Hope that helps.
