Idea! NBME exams - changes to longitudinal scale

Has anyone taken any practice NBME's online this week? I was wondering how the new "longitudinal scale" has changed compared to before?

Thanks.

thats very interesting, because according to the sample scale (the old one i assume) that they have on their website..a 240 = 161 (https://nsas.nbme.org/nsasweb/doc/sample_CBSSA.pdf)

so does this mean the same amount of questions wrong now means a higher score?

Ok...so something is definitely different.

I just finished doing form 11 online and I see the new updated scale. Somehow this is working in OUR favour. For example, previously a score of 500 = 221, and now a score of 500 = 228. To put this in perspective, last week I got 27 wrong on form 6 and scored 226. Today I got 31 wrong on form 11 and got 234.

I emailed the NBME for more insight, no answer yet.

How they score the result? when I answer more wrong question I get higher score?
my test will be in the next ten days and my goal is 225 and above. Is that possible ? Any help is appreciated

Oh ok, I see.
I can say for sure that these nbme guys are taking interest in the style of questions in the current nbmes. It looks like offline nbmes would backfire these days and using the number if correct questions x 1.4 to get ur score would not help either.
I think u would get ur 225. Just take nbme 15&16 and see after small revision and see.

I took NBME 15 last week and noticed the changes. I think they are adjusting their scale to be more in line with the real exam. I was hoping it was an adjustment just for NBME 15 but it looks like they adjusted it for all active NBME's.

My score was a 9 point adjustment for the better. This makes sense since a lot people (including the Falcon reps) say on average add 8-12 points to your NBME.

The bad thing now .... you don't get to add those 8-12 points ... Your score should now be closer to the real one.

So you think the predicted marks shown on the scale now will be a better correlation with Step?

In my mind it just seems like inflation. The passing score increased, and now the scores are increasing too....not sure what to make of it.

When the passing score increases, the longitudinal scale changes accordingly. But the percentage needed to get a particular score on a given form remains the same more or less.
