Default Failed Step 1 twice...Need Advice

I'm a US Citizen who completed basic sciences from Caribbean. Took step I and failed twice. My feeling is it doesn't make sense to continue given how competitive residencies are becoming. I'm thinking of switching to other areas. Can the basic sciences credit be used for something else in medical field.

Appreciate any advise.

Hey, check out this link and hopefully it inspires you. Don't give up on your dream because regardless of score it's a matter of being you, shining in rotations and showing that being a human is more than a score.

Hope it helps and just have some faith. Good luck!

I have not personally wrote the step as of yet. But I do have some colleagues that are in the same situation as you somewhat. They are continuing with their preparations to re-attempt step 1.

I think since you've contributed all these years and hours towards your medical career and step 1, you should keep going. There is always the opportunity of excelling in the step 2 and step 3 exams.

Residencies will always be available in the US, just may not be the location or field you prefer.

As for the basic sciences credit, i think maybe research is the only viable option, but i'm not too sure about that.

Either way, best of luck in your future.

Hey I'm not sure if my post got submitted but what I wanted to say is don't give up on your dream and it's always possible. A score is just one part of it, instead show your a human and have a personality instead of being a statistic and make your CV and application as strong as possible with research, articles, etc.

Take a look at this link and hopefully you can see the bright side out of this:

Hope it helps and gets you thinking that something can be done!

Good luck!
