Listening Am I ready?

Hello everyone,

4 days ago, I gave NBME 7 n got 570...
and today NBME 6 n got 530...
both given online, standard paced...
570 was still fine....got a bit disheartened with 530...felt i was guessing many questions and in form 6 i marked abt 5-6 questions wrongly when i reviewed them...

I've been doing Kaplan qbank (about 2 blocks a day) with cumulative % of 68...with some rare fluctuations of 56, 58 and also 80, 85...??

my aim is 99....but i dunno where i stand
scared, anxious....confused
my exam in 8-9 days....should I postpone???
plz help....thank u so much

Don't postpone your exam. You are in the 99 range. Just keep revising your notes and doing 2 blocks per day and go and take it.

congrats! 96 is still a great score. For what I hear from my seniors, anything about 90 is a good score and above 95 is great!

224 is a great score..

As JJtheMD states in another post, avg for Peds was 207, so you're above mean.. so you can apply for both and can even get both!

Can you post your whole ''experience'', as in books, time, prep schedule etc.?

But you are right in the middle of the pack:

Reports ... that the average USMLE Step 1 Score was 222 and average Step 2 Score was 226 for IMGs who matched in Internal Medicine.

But these data did not differentiate between community and university programs.

Also, you should interpret these numbers with caution because there are several other factors that play role in matching and not just the USMLE scores.
There's no reason to feel discouraged by your score, and no reason to feel like IM is inaccessible! You got a really good score - probably at least half the IMG's who matched IM got lower than you.

Congratulations!

Default my prep

wasnt any different frm the usual actually

total time= 8-9 months, but the actual serious study was for 5-6 months

the same kaplan LNs, then
UW online for 3 months, reading ALL explanations and making notes....overall was 60 something%....(i'm sorry i cant remember)

for pathology definitely Goljan audio and path review by goljan, i didnt hav RR..... (not kaplan ln)

had done UWSA1 in the very beginning of prep n had got 480 i think.....i dont really remember.....

later i did the nbme 6, 7 and uwsa2 whose scores i've mentioned in the beginning of this thread.....

last 2 months was uw revising n FA.....and kaplan qbank 2 blocks a day timed unused.....68%

exam was ok......honestly i dont know how it went....except for the first 2 blocks which i barely got time to complete.....rest i managed fine......
n one thing that had happened with me was that the proctor had entered the exam room with me to take me to my place, n as soon as i sat there, he told me to enter my CIN on screen.....i wanted 1-2 mins to settle down n normalise my racing heart before i start my exam n i knew exam wud start once i enter the cin number......so i asked for a few mins, he never seemed to understand what i said n insisted i enter my CIN.....

so like an idiot i did that n began my exam in that unstable state....

anyways thats all that i wanna say

and a big thanks to this forum for a lot of useful threads n discussions...
