Neuro what arnold chiari malformation types?? need help

guys DOWNLOAD FIRST AID2010 CORRECTION VERY IMPORTANT

NOW I AM CONFUSED THEY SAID

CORRECT IN PAGE 407 ( neurology )


Syringomyelia is associated with Arnold-Chiari type I (not type II) malformation.


AND IN PAGE 127 (EMBRYOLOGY )

THEY DID NOT CHANGE ( ARNOLD CHIARI TYPE 2 WITH SYRINGOMYELIA)


SO WHAT CORRECT INFORMATION ABOUT TYPES OF ARNOLD CHIARI MALFORMATION

as far i know :
Type I - assymptomatic, cerebellar tonsils may slip down.
Type II - ass. with syringomyelia and meningomyolocoele, here the cerebellar vermis and medulla slip through foramen magnum.


Dandy Walker - Posterior fossa cyst due to Foramen of Luschka/Magendie not opening.

Default ARNOLD-CHIARI malformation

TYPE 1
due to downward diplacement of cerebellar tonsils

location foramen magnum

presentation
hydrocephlus all four ventricles dilated, macrocephaly, asymptomatic

TYPE 2
due to
parts of hindbrain, cerebral vermis, 4th ventricle (aqueductal stenosis)

location foramen magnum

associated with memingomyelocele (thoracolumbar)

presentation
brain stem dysfunction, stidor , poor swallowing, Syringomyelia
