Medicolegal and Ethics Accepting a $10,000 gift from a patient!

A 65 year old patient with a recent CABG surgery, being grateful, is offering u a sum of 10,000 dollars for your research. what should you do?



any idea guys for its answer ?

you say i'm greatful for this amount of money, but as your physician i cannot accept any token from my patients.

Default the limit is $100

According to Conrad Fischer 100 Cases Book, you should not accept gift of more than $100 in value.

But I think there was something about research grants that they can be accepted if there is no indication that the grant would affect the outcome or the donor doesn't expect a certain outcome. But I guess for the exam, not accepting it would be a safe answer.

It's about a gift from patient it's not about research grant

I am sorry I interpreted it as a research grant as it said "for your research". But I guess the fact that its coming from a patient doesn't make it one.
