Not to sound rude, but I doubt those are of use in Step 1.

To get a better answer for your question, you should have posted in Step 2 forum, which tests principles of Medicine!

if you want to grab a strong hold on the basic and most important concepts of internal medicine, and of course , if you are a hard worker, then you "must" get Harrison" both volumes" , but this is just in med school...coz i think even for step 2ck , Harrison is too large
frankly i regret not using it extensively in med school.
this book is awesome man!!!!

Default It's US versus UK med schools

Guys you need to understand this:
Harrison's is the textbook recommended by most US med schools because it's written by US authors.
Davidson's is the textbook recommended by most UK med schools because it's written by UK authors.

Now, if you want to get ready for USA (this is a USMLE Forum) then you should go after Harrison.

Default Harrison vs Davidson vs Kumar&Clark

Hi abhicanada,

If you have plenty of time try Harrison (>2500 pages).
If you take a look, for example, at the HIV/AIDS section you'll be shocked by the overwhelming details. Prof. Fauci, one of the authors, must have put his whole PhD thesis there.
Many doctors use Harrison as a reference for certain topics. I call it "the Dust Collector" - lots of colleagues have it just to sit on the shelves.
But if you have time to go through, Harrison will give you greater insight than Davidson. But Davidson's is not bad. It's actually quite good. Another very good book similar to Davidson is Cumar&Klark.

Regards,
K

Hi!!!! M a med student in my final yr... I think davidson is an awesome book, it starts with a bit of all the things needed to know the basics for a particular disease.... In this way u cover the basic medical science too (which'll help u get a more firm grip on ur concepts)... N it takes a step further in each sentence to build a repu with the reader... So i think its a good book for a medical student, cuz u ve time to read things in detail...
