Medicolegal and Ethics The Ethics and Medicolegal of Organ Donation

I have encountered two questions in uworld n qbank regarding organ donations. In uworld it was like it was mentioned on driver license to donate organs but no witnesses to it and card expired two months ago. the wife shows up and refuses the donations. The answer was to ultimately donate.

The contradiction comes from Conrad Fischer where similar question come in that a person has an organ donor card and when organ donation team asks his wife about this, she refuses and organs are not donated...

Can anyone explain this contradiction?

Thanks in advance!

The Fischer stance was discussed in this thread - I haven't come across that question in UWorld yet...

Wouldn't the case in point above make the donor card pointless? I mean, in the end you're family is going to have the authority.

In most states, the donor card has no real authority, but it's not totally pointless - it can let the family know what your wishes are...
