Default Hey!

I'm taking my exam early August. I'm a second-year medical student and still busy with my last course, so it was kind of hard for me to free up a lot of time for my Step 1.
However, I've been working on my weaknesses since Winter break. You could say I've been an average student since premed but I'm really trying to change that. I'm not sure what to aim for, but my minimum is definitely 230-ish.
I've talked to a lot of peers and graduates about preparing for the step 1 and the common consensus was to start uworld/kaplan-qbank as soon as possible! My friend--who's also my tutor--told me to aim at getting through uworld at least twice.

So that's my advice to you all. Watching your performance improve on uworld is also pretty good incentive that keeps you working every day.

Start off with 2-3 46 question-blocks per week or 10 questions every day. Follow that up with a few hours of annotating First Aid. It might be time-consuming at first but it's totally worth it.

Good luck

I wanted to do.. I asked many of my friends nd ppl in forum.. they said uworld with FA is good if u have done Kaplan with videos.. if u are one who can't study FA by its own n need videos then u can go for DIT.. this is just what everyone has told me...

How long did it take for application process and can u just brief it how it has to be done
I would look into dit cause they make ur fa strong conceptual wise in case u have time go for it it's worth it

The application process is as follows:
Go to Usmle Web: Select to Apply for Step 1: They want you to make an account on their web: After making account they send you USMLE ID and One time PASSword: You then login and change ur Password: By logging in they ask you to give them some details about you and your school: They then charge 65 $ for registration: After that you will receive an email: Then again log in to their web: They will make you fill a Long Long Form Online and thats THE ONLINE PART of the APPlication: then you pay them the USMLE fees and they will let you print a form 186 if u r American Med Student or form 183 if you are IMG. Sign that form by yourself and your school Head/Principal and the school will gonna post it by itself DONOT POST OWN YOUR OWN, they reject that. Then within three week they send you an email of your confirmation and after that you can select your Prometric and date of Exam...

I hope You understand that...

I too am giving my exam later this year.. either end September or October. IMG , 3rd year of medical school. I've set myself a deadline but i won't give the exam until I'm absolutely ready.
I'm slightly more than halfway through my Kaplan. Going through Goljaan and his audio. But everything feels so slow!!
.Plan to start First Aid in a month or so. When would be the best time to start doing Uworld?

During the second read of kaplan and goljan, accompany it with FA and U world.

Default lets do this!:)

Hey Guys. Count me in too for October exam takers. I was planning to take my exam last year but due to family matters I had to stop everything @ the beginning of the year & now I'm starting all over again.

My plan is to start @ the beginning of May; I'll watch the videos & read FA at the same time along with doing usmleworld.

I have a question though; if you have all of usmlewrorld annotated into ur FA, do u still have to go over the actual qbank more than once again?

Thanks a lot & best of luck to everyone

Some ppl have been recommending Dr.Najeeb's videos. you can find some on youtube. I heard that DIT is very useful for consolidating FA at the end of ur preparation (I'm not sure how helpful it is as first time videos though). Hope others can help u too
