Default nbme 16 score reliability

Hi..
I just wanted to know from any of you who have taken nbme 16 and the final exam... How well did your nbme 16 score co relate with the final score?? Was it close to the final score or was there a huge difference between the two..
I heard of a person who had a difference of almost 20.. So just wanted to know if it's really that unreliable or was it just luck..!!??

Thank you! :-)

Wowowww

U mean a difference of plus 20 or minus 20 from d form 16 score.

I heard dat it underpredicts my 5.

Means if u score 200 in form16 den ur probably gona svore 205 to 210 in real deal.

Oh.. A plus 5 in the final is good I think.
Thanks.

And I mean.. Nbme 16 score - 20 = final score

As far as I know NBME 15 has been pretty good in prediction.

Man, I don't usually do this...but reading your grammar in your posts is painful. Is it that difficult to make an attempt to sound older than 12 years old?

I'm someone who is trying to keep you from looking like a clown when you get out into the medical field.

It's not about teaching English, nor is it about you speaking well in English. It's about the fact that you consciously choose to sound immature...it's embarrassing.

You are right Xorthos, Placebo's English really sucks...its hard to even try to look at her crappy English that's probably used by f****ing teenagers. She even got a stupid explanation saying she acts childish when not around patients ha ha ha lmao. Tell you what Placebo ! you are childish and go use that sh*tty English in your village or your chat messengers...the posts here are meant to be read by everyone...P.S We don't want narrow minded people like you here.

Xorthos you are a very kind person you didn't even say a word when she misunderstood your suggestion. It's her problem.

P.S. If you are a man stop calling other men 'sweety pie' and 'cho chweet'...by the way what in the world is 'cho chweet'??!

224 according to me is a good score, but not a great one.

I have heard dat it does not matter which nbme you have given, they(nbme) would adjust your Score to be with the same level as other forms.

Only the number of question answered incorrectly would change.

I have also heard that nbme 16 is a little tougher than some of the previous ones.

As usual nbme score +or - 10 = real score...

Hope that helps...

P.s.- I would like to apologize to all those who have read my post and found it offensive in anyway. Xorthos and others sorry guys didnt mean to hurt you guys in any way. I really appreciate you reading my post and hope you keep on doing it. Thank you for reading them.

thanks for replying.

ill do my best, i was thinking of postponing but i think ill be caught in a vicious cycle and also i will bore myself.

thanks for the encouragement, ill do IWSA and see how it goes, hopefully i score on that +240 since people say it overpredicts by +-15.

i was planning on doing whole FA review the last time but i see its kinda impossible in too little time, maybe only going to high yield and my weaknesses.

any input will be welcomed, im in cortisol overloaded state, how do anyone copes with the pressure its horrible these last weeks!

also, if im scoring above 80% on my 2nd round on ONLY INCORRECT ones in uworld does that mean im retaining and getting the grip of things?? im worried cause i see here people score on their 90s on 2nd time uworld. i havent reached 90s at all, at the most i get 89%. does this mean im not nailing the concepts fully??

sorry for these silly questions guys, i just need honest opinion, it will kill me if i score bad on step1.
just want to be sure that im not having the "signs" of better off postponing the test.

Placebo! I have been on this forum for sometime and having followed the discourse on this thread I can see u have a good learning heart. What they are saying may not be true but u have looked above some heartbreaking comments about you. This would take you to places u least imagine. Do good unto others and in that u will heep hot coals on others who desire bad about you.

To all cherished members let us keep up the spirit. We are here to help each other not to be enemies. You never know who may be of help to you in the next minute. You may even meet in the same hospital as residents and later discover your usmle-forum names and then remember the bad things u said to each other. That would not be cool at all.
Make your submissions here as clean as pure gold.

Good luck.

Hey I gave nbme 16 today,I got 210. I was writing the exam on 17th June but now I've planned to postpone it. Please let me know what you are planning to read right before the exams. Many ppl recommend DIT. should I do DIT? or should I revise uworld?

I have done Kaplan videos, uworld, some Kaplan question bank and FA but my score is poor. What should I do?

Don't be upset. Revise, revise n keep revising. You can do it!

NBME is a little tough. Got 222 on it and 232 on the real thing.

A classmate of mine who took the step the same day I did got a failing score on NBME 16 but passed the real thing. I don't know the exact figures though. We did only NBME 16. Hope this helps.

From your scores, I suggest you extend your eligibility period. What is your current eligibility period?

Ok let your money go waste then start all over again!
Which one do u like? Go in and possibly fail then pay and register again or let first money go wast and register again with no indication of attempt on ur transcript. The decision is yours!

Unfortunately nsesereso is right. You ought to cancel your test and apply for it again regardless of how much money it takes. Think of it this way; If you fail (frankly the chances are not slim based on your mock scores), not only will this be a big disadvantage to you during match, limiting the programs you can apply to, you will also then have to subsequently apply again to step 1 wasting your money again. Now you don't want a "fail" on your USMLE transcript and pay the money again for step 1, or a very bad score on your transcript.

The best option is to cancel it, apply for it again, and this time choose your eligibility period wisely, do NBMEs at least 5 weeks before the actual thing, and if you get the scores in your desired range, take the exam.

I don't want to discourage you in anyway, if you're happy with just a pass, and confident you're going to achieve it then go for it, if not, CANCEL it quickly! This is an exigent predicament, deal with it ideally, or you will regret it.

Good luck!

Default Nbmes?

Guys I need some help. I'm taking one Nbme tomorrow, I got 13, 15, and 16 left.
I took my last one couple of months ago and got 182
Which one should I take first? Based on the ones that I have left
Any advice??

Which one did you take? All the NBMEs that you have remaining are good predictors. I would leave NBME 16 the last, but when is your exam?

I already took all of them (11,12,7,5,6), except those that I mentioned (13,15,16)
I tryed to save them for last, I just didn't know which one to take first, but I'm gonna do what you said and leave 16 the last.
The thing is I don't have a date yet, I'm planning to take it before the end of the year, but is like I don't wanna schedule the exam until I get a decent score on the Nbme, because I already had to cancel and lose my money before.

I got 247 in nbme 16. This score really made me down. I am aiming for 265 but i am nowhere near there. Do i have to postpone it? İ have been studying for 18 months. How much time do i need to get 265+ ? İ feel like i started forgetting some highyield stuff so i need to hurry.

Thx

Thirteen

you should write 16 first. It is by far the toughest form out of all forms and if you save it until the end, you may have a huge panic attack. If you score well on that, means you know your material very well and can handle all the tricks the nbme people can throw at you

15 and 13 are not too bad and fairly the same difficulty level.

That's a good point doc, thanks for the reply. Actually I thought about it, but wasn't sure, (because of my low score on previous Nbme)
I think I'm gonna try that, because I really need to know where I'm and I don't wanna get a panic attack later on, as you said
Are 13 and 15 still good predictors of the actual score?

16 is the most difficult one. But if you got 182 in the previous ones, you will not be seeing any improvement if you do 16 first, so why "waste" it. Why not leave the hardest till the last after going through every NBMEs and after countless revisions, and checking out where you stand at least 5 weeks before your exam. If you do bad, it means you have to extend your eligibility period, if not go for it.

At least I am doing it this way, but its completely up to you.

Good luck!

Yeah, I'm gonna think about it, because I do want to see improvement on my score. Thanks for your advice

Hi all, I am confused by the NMBE vs USMLE scoring. I got a 200 on exam 16 which apparently translates into a mere 164 in the actual test. How accurate is this? Help please!
